A purpose-built home with a personal touch
Wolborough Court is a purpose-built residential care home in Newton Abbot, thoughtfully designed to provide comfort, accessibility and peace of mind. With just 24 ensuite bedrooms, we offer all the benefits of a modern care home while maintaining the warm, friendly atmosphere of a much smaller community.
Every part of the home has been designed to support independence while creating a safe, welcoming environment. Our spacious layout includes wide, level corridors, a large comfortable lounge, a dedicated activities room, two dining rooms and a sunny terrace where residents can relax with family and friends or simply enjoy the fresh air.
Small enough to feel like family
What really makes Wolborough Court special is our size. With only 24 residents, our team has the time to build genuine relationships and get to know each person as an individual. We understand routines, preferences, life stories and the little things that make a real difference to daily life.
Residents quickly become part of our community, enjoying companionship, familiar faces and the reassurance of consistent care from a dedicated manager led team.Β
Care tailored to you
Whether you're looking for day care, respite care or a permanent home, our care is tailored to your individual needs and can adapt as those needs change. We support older people with a range of care needs, including those living with frailty and mild to moderate dementia, always encouraging independence while providing reassurance and support when it's needed.
Enjoy every day
Life at Wolborough Court is about far more than receiving care. We offer a varied programme of activities throughout the day, designed to encourage conversation, friendships and wellbeing. From arts and crafts, quizzes and gentle exercise to live entertainment, baking and themed events, there's always something happening to keep you busy and engaged.Β
Residents can enjoy delicious home cooked meals in our welcoming dining rooms, spend time with loved ones on the terrace, or simply relax in one of our lounges with a cup of tea and good company.
A place to belong
Moving into a care home is a significant decision, and our aim is to make that transition as easy as possible. At Wolborough Court, you'll find the perfect balance of modern facilities, personalised care and a close-knit community where everyone knows your name.
As a smaller care home, we are able to create a warm, family-like environment where residents, staff, and families feel truly at home. Our manager isnβt a distant figureβyouβll see them regularly, involved in day-to-day life. Whether you have a question, concern, or simply want to chat, youβll know exactly who to turn to. Itβs this hands-on approach that helps us build strong, lasting relationships with every resident and their loved ones.

Hi, I'mΒ Lisa, and I am absolutely thrilled to welcome you toΒ Wolborough Court!
My journey into care has been one I wouldn't trade for the world. I spentΒ five wonderful yearsΒ working with young adults with autism and special needs β an experience that shaped me into the compassionate, patient, and people-first professional I am today. That passion for making a genuine difference in people's lives never left me, and it naturally led me into the world of elderly care.
I've been lucky enough to grow within this incredible organisation, starting as aΒ SeniorΒ at our sister home, working my way up toΒ Deputy Manager, and now β I am so proud to say β stepping into the role ofΒ Home Manager here at Wolborough Court!
That journey means I understand this world from the ground up, and I bring every bit of that experience with me every single day.
My promise to you is simple βΒ warmth, dedication, and a home where you truly feel at home.Β Every resident here matters deeply, and I will always make sure that shines through in everything we do.
I genuinelyΒ cannot wait to meet you all!Β π‘π

Activities are more than just a schedule β theyβre woven into our daily care. Our team members take time to connect personally with residents, encouraging involvement and supporting those who may be shy at first to find their spark.
We also welcome visiting entertainers, local school groups, and regularly organise community outings, helping residents stay connected with the world around them.
A Partnership with Family and Friends
We know how important it is for families to stay involved in their loved oneβs care. Thatβs why we see care as a partnership β between the resident, the home, and the family.
With your consent, family members are invited to be active participants in your care journey. From regular updates with staff and management to private consultations and unrestricted visiting (where appropriate), we aim to keep communication open and relationships strong.
Your family remains a vital part of your life here β not just welcome visitors, but valued collaborators in your continued wellbeing.
Living with Purpose
Wellbeing isnβt just about comfort β itβs about meaning. Many of our residents enjoy taking part in our Living with Purpose initiative, which offers opportunities to contribute to life at the home or support causes they care about.
Whether itβs helping with light home duties, mentoring others, or getting involved in charitable fundraising, having a role and a reason brings joy and fulfilment β and research shows it supports both mental and physical health.
Food & Dining: Familiar Comforts with a Twist
Mealtimes are about more than nutrition β theyβre a highlight of the day. Our kitchen team prepares a variety of traditional and modern meals using fresh, nutritious ingredients delivered twice weekly..
Residents enjoy a choice of dishes and, where appropriate, can pair meals with a glass of red or white wine.
