Personalised care in a home that feels like family
At Doneraile Care Home, we believe everyone deserves more than excellent care β they deserve to feel understood, valued and truly at home.
Our intimate 23-bedroom home in Newton Abbot provides personalised residential care, with specialist support and a substantial programme of daily activities, in a calm and welcoming environment where every resident is known as an individual.
As part of the award-winning Rose Care Group, we combine the reassurance of an experienced provider with the warmth and familiarity that only a small home can offerΒ β with sensible, transparent pricing too. Our size allows us to spend more time with each resident, building genuine relationships and providing the extra attention, reassurance and continuity that can make such a difference to those who need a little more support.
Person centred care tailored to the individual
Every resident is unique, and so is the care they receive.
We support people with a wide range of needs, from those who simply require a little extra help with everyday living to those living with mild to moderate dementiaΒ who benefit from a familiar routine, gentle reassurance and consistent support.
We take time to understand each person's life story, routines, preferences and what matters most to them. From favourite hobbies and lifelong interests to daily habits and family traditions, these small details help us deliver care that feels familiar, reassuring and meaningful.
A team you'll know and trust
One of Doneraile's greatest strengths is our long standing, manager-led team. Many of our colleagues have been with us for years, creating consistency and familiar faces that residents and families come to know and trust.
This continuity is particularly valuable for people living with dementia, where familiar faces, established routines and trusted relationships can provide comfort, reduce anxiety and help people feel secure.
Our Registered Manager and Deputy Manager is actively involved in the day-to-day life of the home, supporting residents, families and colleagues alike. We see ourselves as an extension of your family, working together to ensure every resident feels safe, respected and genuinely cared for.Β
A home designed for comfort, connection and wellbeing
Residents can enjoy time in our welcoming TV lounge, relax in our quiet lounge with family and friends, or spend time on our safe, enclosed veranda enjoying the fresh air.Β Uniquely for a care service, is our major focus on activities.
Activities are a major part of life at Doneraile. Our dedicated Activities Coordinator is in the home six days a week, while on the seventh day our care team leads additional activities and experiences, giving residents opportunities to take part in something enjoyable and meaningful every day of the week.
Whether it'sΒ quieter, personal time or shared activities likeΒ music, reminiscence, baking, gardening or simply sharing a cup of tea with friends , the aim is to keep life varied, new, sociable and engaging while never making residents feel pressured to take part.
Supporting changing needs
As people's needs evolve, so does our care.
Whether someone joins us for residential care, requires support with mild to moderate dementia or simply needs a little more help over time, our experienced team adapts their care accordingly.
Our aim is to provide continuity, helping residents remain in familiar surroundings with the people they know and trust, reducing the disruption that can come with moving home.

Hello everyone,
My name is Sam Hayden, and I am delighted to be supporting Doneraile Care Home as Interim Home Manager.
I have been part of the Rose Care Group family for over four years, working as an Area Manager supporting our homes and teams across the group. Throughout my time with Rose Care Group, I have worked closely with our managers, residents and staff to ensure we provide safe, high-quality care and create homes where people genuinely enjoy living.
During this period of transition, my priority is to support our residents, families and team, ensuring continuity, stability and the high standards of care that Doneraile is known for. I believe that communication is key, and my door will always be open if you would like to ask a question, share feedback or simply have a chat.
I'm looking forward to getting to know everyone over the coming weeks and working alongside Gemma and the fantastic team at Doneraile. Together, we will continue to provide a warm, welcoming environment where our residents feel safe, valued and truly at home.
If you see me around the home, please do come and say helloβI look forward to meeting you all.

Each bedroom is carefully decorated in calming tones and fully furnished to provide a peaceful, private space where residents can relax and unwind. We encourage everyone to personalise their rooms with photos, mementos, and favourite pieces to make it truly feel like their own.
In-room features include:
A television with Freeview

Full furnishing and soft lighting
Telephone or access to cordless phones so calls can be taken wherever you like
An emergency call system, offering peace of mind 24/7
Our accommodation extends far beyond the bedroom. Residents have access to 2 comfortable lounges and a bright, spacious dining room β ideal settings for socialising, enjoying meals, or simply spending time with visitors. These shared spaces are the heart of the home, designed to foster companionship and community while offering plenty of room for individual choice and quiet moments.
Outside, a secure and beautifully maintained garden offers a tranquil space to enjoy the outdoors. Whether itβs a stroll among the flowers, catching up with family, or simply enjoying a sunny afternoon with a cup of tea, the garden provides a peaceful escape and regular opportunities for seasonal activities.
Whether you prefer quiet time in your room, group activities with friends, or fresh air in the garden, our accommodation is built around your comfort, choice, and wellbeing.
We believe that life in our home should be vibrant, fulfilling, and full of opportunity. Thatβs why we place such a strong emphasis on wellbeing β physical, emotional, and social. Our activities programme is carefully curated to offer a rich mix of experiences tailored to individual interests and abilities. From sing-alongs and arts & crafts to light exercise classes, gardening, and quiet one-to-one sessions, thereβs something for everyone.
Activities are more than just a schedule β theyβre woven into our daily care. Our team members take time to connect personally with residents, encouraging involvement and supporting those who may be shy at first to find their spark.
We also welcome visiting entertainers, local school groups, and regularly organise community outings, helping residents stay connected with the world around them.
A Partnership with Family and Friends
We know how important it is for families to stay involved in their loved oneβs care. Thatβs why we see care as a partnership β between the resident, the home, and the family.
With your consent, family members are invited to be active participants in your care journey. From regular updates with staff and management to private consultations and unrestricted visiting (where appropriate), we aim to keep communication open and relationships strong.
Your family remains a vital part of your life here β not just welcome visitors, but valued collaborators in your continued wellbeing.
Living with Purpose
Wellbeing isnβt just about comfort β itβs about meaning. Many of our residents enjoy taking part in our Living with Purpose initiative, which offers opportunities to contribute to life at the home or support causes they care about.
Whether itβs helping with light home duties, mentoring others, or getting involved in charitable fundraising, having a role and a reason brings joy and fulfilment β and research shows it supports both mental and physical health.
Food & Dining: Familiar Comforts with a Twist
Mealtimes are about more than nutrition β theyβre a highlight of the day. Our kitchen team prepares a variety of traditional and modern meals using fresh, nutritious ingredients delivered twice weekly..
Residents enjoy a choice of dishes and, where appropriate, can pair meals with a glass of red or white wine. We also run themed culinary experiences like Tasty Tuesdays and Fun Fridays, offering bite-sized treats from around the world β from mini Mexican tacos to Indian samosas and Chinese spring rolls.
These events spark curiosity and conversation β and some of the favourites even make their way onto our regular menu. Got something youβve always wanted to try? Just let us know β we love a new idea.
We know that balancing work, family, and caregiving can be challengingβand we also know how important it is for older adults to feel connected, stimulated, and safe. Thatβs why our Day Care service offers a flexible, welcoming solution.
For just Β£60 per day, your loved one can spend the day with us enjoying a freshly prepared meal, a warm and friendly atmosphere, and the chance to take part in our homeβs full activity programmeβfrom games and crafts to sing-alongs and gentle exercise.
