Our intimate 23-bedroom home in Newton Abbot provides personalised residential care, with specialist support and a substantial programme of daily activities, in a calm and welcoming environment where every resident is known as an individual.
As part of the award-winning Rose Care Group, we combine the reassurance of an experienced provider with the warmth and familiarity that only a small home can offer – with sensible, transparent pricing too. Our size allows us to spend more time with each resident, building genuine relationships and providing the extra attention, reassurance and continuity that can make such a difference to those who need a little more support.

We support people with a wide range of needs, from those who simply require a little extra help with everyday living to those living with mild to moderate dementia who benefit from a familiar routine, gentle reassurance and consistent support.
We take time to understand each person's life story, routines, preferences and what matters most to them. From favourite hobbies and lifelong interests to daily habits and family traditions, these small details help us deliver care that feels familiar, reassuring and meaningful.

One of Doneraile's greatest strengths is our long standing, manager-led team. Many of our colleagues have been with us for years, creating consistency and familiar faces that residents and families come to know and trust.
This continuity is particularly valuable for people living with dementia, where familiar faces, established routines and trusted relationships can provide comfort, reduce anxiety and help people feel secure.
Our Registered Manager and Deputy Manager is actively involved in the day-to-day life of the home, supporting residents, families and colleagues alike. We see ourselves as an extension of your family, working together to ensure every resident feels safe, respected and genuinely cared for.
A home designed for comfort, connection and wellbeing
Residents can enjoy time in our welcoming TV lounge, relax in our quiet lounge with family and friends, or spend time on our safe, enclosed veranda enjoying the fresh air. Uniquely for a care service, is our major focus on activities.
Activities are a major part of life at Doneraile. Our dedicated Activities Coordinator is in the home six days a week, while on the seventh day our care team leads additional activities and experiences, giving residents opportunities to take part in something enjoyable and meaningful every day of the week.
Whether it's quieter, personal time or shared activities like music, reminiscence, baking, gardening or simply sharing a cup of tea with friends , the aim is to keep life varied, new, sociable and engaging while never making residents feel pressured to take part.

Whether someone joins us for residential care, requires support with mild to moderate dementia or simply needs a little more help over time, our experienced team adapts their care accordingly.

My name is Sam Hayden, and I am delighted to be supporting Doneraile Care Home as Interim Home Manager.
I have been part of the Rose Care Group family for over four years, working as an Area Manager supporting our homes and teams across the group. Throughout my time with Rose Care Group, I have worked closely with our managers, residents and staff to ensure we provide safe, high-quality care and create homes where people genuinely enjoy living.
During this period of transition, my priority is to support our residents, families and team, ensuring continuity, stability and the high standards of care that Doneraile is known for. I believe that communication is key, and my door will always be open if you would like to ask a question, share feedback or simply have a chat.
I'm looking forward to getting to know everyone over the coming weeks and working alongside Gemma and the fantastic team at Doneraile. Together, we will continue to provide a warm, welcoming environment where our residents feel safe, valued and truly at home.

At Doneraile, we’ve created a warm and welcoming environment designed to feel like home from the moment you arrive. With 23 bedrooms, the majority of which are en-suite, and a range of thoughtfully designed communal spaces, our home offers comfort, privacy, and the opportunity to connect with others.
Each bedroom is carefully decorated in calming tones and fully furnished to provide a peaceful, private space where residents can relax and unwind. We encourage everyone to personalise their rooms with photos, mementos, and favourite pieces to make it truly feel like their own.

Our accommodation extends far beyond the bedroom. Residents have access to 2 comfortable lounges and a bright, spacious dining room — ideal settings for socialising, enjoying meals, or simply spending time with visitors. These shared spaces are the heart of the home, designed to foster companionship and community while offering plenty of room for individual choice and quiet moments.
Outside, a secure and beautifully maintained garden offers a tranquil space to enjoy the outdoors. Whether it’s a stroll among the flowers, catching up with family, or simply enjoying a sunny afternoon with a cup of tea, the garden provides a peaceful escape and regular opportunities for seasonal activities.

Food & Dining: Familiar Comforts with a Twist
Mealtimes are about more than nutrition — they’re a highlight of the day. Our kitchen team prepares a variety of traditional and modern meals using fresh, nutritious ingredients delivered twice weekly..
Residents enjoy a choice of dishes and, where appropriate, can pair meals with a glass of red or white wine. We also run themed culinary experiences like Tasty Tuesdays and Fun Fridays, offering bite-sized treats from around the world — from mini Mexican tacos to Indian samosas and Chinese spring rolls.
