As part of this exciting new chapter, the home is undergoing a comprehensive refurbishment, with completion due in August 26. This significant investment will transform Abbeywood House to the same high standard as our sister home, Greycliffe Manor (top-rated in Torquay), creating beautiful, modern surroundings while preserving the warm, welcoming atmosphere that residents and families value.

Care and Support
Abbeywood House provides residential care for older people who require support with everyday living, including those living with frailty, reduced mobility and early-stage dementia. Our experienced and consistent team delivers compassionate care 24 hours a day, ensuring residents feel safe, respected and supported.
As part of Rose Care Group, residents benefit from access to wider clinical expertise, robust governance and shared best practice across our homes. As care needs change over time, our support evolves too, helping residents remain comfortably settled in familiar surroundings.

Once complete in August, residents will enjoy a stylish, comfortable environment that reflects the exceptional standards found across Rose Care Group.

Residents enjoy a varied programme of activities seven days a week, including live entertainment, arts and crafts, gentle exercise, gardening, themed celebrations, group activities and meaningful one-to-one time. Every activity is designed around individual interests and abilities, encouraging social connection, enriching everyday life and being part of the Cary Park and Torquay community.
Food and Dining
Mealtimes are an important part of life at Abbeywood House. Our chefs prepare delicious, home-cooked meals using fresh, locally sourced ingredients wherever possible. Residents can choose from a varied selection of breakfasts, lunches and evening meals, alongside lighter bites and homemade treats. Popular themed dining experiences, including Tasty Tuesdays and Fun Fridays, bring flavours from around the world to the table, making every mealtime a social occasion to enjoy.

Hello, I’m Maxine. I’m a mum of two boys and also a nan to a lovely grandson. I was born and bred in Devon, but have been fortunate enough to have lived abroad, including the Caribbean!
I qualified as an early year’s teacher when my children were young, and then went on to become an estate manager for a wonderful family who I stayed with for 15 years. It was this experience which then led me to realise that I wanted to help and support others, so I decided to work in the care profession and have never looked back.
My career history involves supporting adults with mental health and learning difficulties, and through completing my NVQs all the way up to level 5, I have now been a Registered Care home Manager for 9 years.
I’ve been with Abbeywood House for over 2 years, and I really believe this is where I belong. It’s a lovely care home that is, and has been, working hard to ensure the residents that we support live their best lives, in a caring environment with qualified well-educated staff.
We pride ourselves on being warm, friendly and a home away from home, encouraging and supporting families to visit and join in with our daily activities, be that dancing to the bands, joining in with the quizzes taking part in baking home cooked cakes, or sitting with loved ones and making friends with other visitors and residents.

With 32 bedrooms, the majority of which are en-suite, and a range of thoughtfully designed communal spaces, our home offers comfort, privacy, and the opportunity to connect with others.
Each bedroom is carefully decorated in calming tones and fully furnished to provide a peaceful, private space where residents can relax and unwind. We encourage everyone to personalise their rooms with photos, mementos, and favourite pieces to make it truly feel like their own.
