Luxury, comfortable living. Quality Care

Bishopsteignton House is a premium, luxury residential care home, set in a Grade II listed manor house.

Upon entering, you’ll be greeted by the scent of the beautiful flowers that adorn the resident conservatory. Just past this, you’ll find our bustling foyer, where residents love to people watch and listen to music from the time. The large lounge is great for entertaining with high ceilings, widescreen TVs, a technology station and a variety of games. The adjacent dining room is well-attended and always full of energy at meal times.

We have a range of activities and services, from twice daily activities, our hydration station, afternoon drinks trolley (always a favourite!), wishing tree and a variety of viewing spots to observe the moors.

Our care is the aspect of which we are most proud. On joining Bishopsteignton House, you’ll enjoy a happy home-from-home where you feel safe, cared for and supported to do what makes you happy. A place where friendly, lively banter between staff and residents is the norm. Our staff are trained to be professional and knowledgeable – but are also carefully selected for being caring and kind. As a smaller home, they get to know the residents well and the little things that matter to each person.

Our menu is designed to satisfy all tastes with a variety of options produced by us and our residents. Food is freshly prepared daily by our chef, who likes to know all residents personally. We also offer varied special taster menus twice per week to sample dishes from around the world. Whatever your palette, we can find something.

We hope to see you join us at Bishopsteignton House.

Our manager isn’t a distant figure—you’ll see them regularly, involved in day-to-day life. Whether you have a question, concern, or simply want to chat, you’ll know exactly who to turn to. It’s this hands-on approach that helps us build strong, lasting relationships with every resident and their loved ones.

Meet the Manager

Donna Waldron

Home Manager

Hi, I'm Donna, and I'm proud to be the manager of our care home. My journey into care began in a very personal way—by looking after my Grandma. That experience opened my heart to how meaningful and important good care really is. After she passed, I knew I wanted to continue helping others in a way that felt just as personal and fulfilling.

To me, a care home should feel like just that—a home. It's not just about safety and support (though those are vital), but also about joy, companionship, and dignity. I believe that everyone deserves to laugh, connect, and do things that genuinely make them happy. That’s why I make it a priority to create an environment where residents can socialize, pursue their interests, and feel truly seen and heard.

I'm lucky to be surrounded by a wonderful team who share these same values. We work together every day to put residents first, making sure they feel not just cared for, but cared about. Whether someone is staying with us short-term or long-term, we want them—and their families—to feel completely at home here.

Wellbeing & Activities

We believe that life in our home should be vibrant, fulfilling, and full of opportunity. That’s why we place such a strong emphasis on wellbeing — physical, emotional, and social. Our activities programme is carefully curated to offer a rich mix of experiences tailored to individual interests and abilities. From sing-alongs and arts & crafts to light exercise classes, gardening, and quiet one-to-one sessions, there’s something for everyone.

Activities are more than just a schedule — they’re woven into our daily care. Our team members take time to connect personally with residents, encouraging involvement and supporting those who may be shy at first to find their spark.

We also welcome visiting entertainers, local school groups, and regularly organise community outings, helping residents stay connected with the world around them.

A Partnership with Family and Friends
We know how important it is for families to stay involved in their loved one’s care. That’s why we see care as a partnership — between the resident, the home, and the family.

With your consent, family members are invited to be active participants in your care journey. From regular updates with staff and management to private consultations and unrestricted visiting (where appropriate), we aim to keep communication open and relationships strong.

Your family remains a vital part of your life here — not just welcome visitors, but valued collaborators in your continued wellbeing.

Living with Purpose
Wellbeing isn’t just about comfort — it’s about meaning. Many of our residents enjoy taking part in our Living with Purpose initiative, which offers opportunities to contribute to life at the home or support causes they care about.

Whether it’s helping with light home duties, mentoring others, or getting involved in charitable fundraising, having a role and a reason brings joy and fulfilment — and research shows it supports both mental and physical health.

Food & Dining: Familiar Comforts with a Twist
Mealtimes are about more than nutrition — they’re a highlight of the day. Our kitchen team prepares a variety of traditional and modern meals using fresh, nutritious ingredients delivered twice weekly..

Residents enjoy a choice of dishes and, where appropriate, can pair meals with a glass of red or white wine. We also run themed culinary experiences like Tasty Tuesdays and Fun Fridays, offering bite-sized treats from around the world — from mini Mexican tacos to Indian samosas and Chinese spring rolls.

These events spark curiosity and conversation — and some of the favourites even make their way onto our regular menu. Got something you’ve always wanted to try? Just let us know — we love a new idea.
