Live the life you want, the way you want

At St Benets Court we understand that as we age, our body might not be able to keep up with our minds and it might be harder to stand or walk or do things for yourself that used to be easy.

St Benets Court was set up to provide for people who specifically need that little extra support, especially due to physically limiting conditions. Our fully trained staff are kind, patient and caring. They will work with you to rediscover your independence. We provide a range of specialist equipment and technology too, that helps residents live an enriching life.

With our “Mind Body and Soul” activities programme we aim to reduce the progression of some of these physical conditions. We help maintain people’s connections to the outside world and their loved ones. After all, family and friends are some of the most important treasures in our lives.

The manager and your key worker will work with you, your family, and other professionals to meet any goals you may have. Whether it’s about feeling safe and independent, getting aspects of your mobility back, or improving the social aspect of your life - all of our residents are important to us and we want to help you to live the life you want, in the way you want. Whatever your goal, we will be there for you.

Offering a sense of community, enrichment, and friendships, our tailored care packages work with your lifestyle, placing it at the very heart of your support.

We hope to see you join us at St Benets Court.

Meet the Manager

Michelle Dower

Home Manager

My journey to becoming the Care Home Manager at St Benets Court took an unexpected but wonderful turn. Having started my professional life as a Head Housekeeper in hospitality, I discovered my true calling when I serendipitously accepted a position supporting young adults with learning disabilities. This chance opportunity ignited a passion for care that has defined my career ever since.

As my dedication grew, so did my qualifications—earning Levels 2, 3, and 5 Diplomas in Health and Social Care. While covering for various homes without managers, fate led me to St Benets Court, and I immediately knew I had found my home.

What truly brings me joy is creating an environment where our residents feel happy, safe, and genuinely cared for. Each person here has lived a remarkable life filled with stories and experiences that fascinate me daily. It's my absolute privilege to spend time with them, reminiscing about their adventures and creating new memories together.

I believe care is one of life's most rewarding fields—there's nothing quite like knowing you've made a positive difference in someone's day. I look forward to welcoming you to our warm and vibrant community at St Benets Court!

Wellbeing & Activities

We believe that life in our home should be vibrant, fulfilling, and full of opportunity. That’s why we place such a strong emphasis on wellbeing — physical, emotional, and social. Our activities programme is carefully curated to offer a rich mix of experiences tailored to individual interests and abilities. From sing-alongs and arts & crafts to light exercise classes, gardening, and quiet one-to-one sessions, there’s something for everyone.

Activities are more than just a schedule — they’re woven into our daily care. Our team members take time to connect personally with residents, encouraging involvement and supporting those who may be shy at first to find their spark.

We also welcome visiting entertainers, local school groups, and regularly organise community outings, helping residents stay connected with the world around them.

A Partnership with Family and Friends
We know how important it is for families to stay involved in their loved one’s care. That’s why we see care as a partnership — between the resident, the home, and the family.

With your consent, family members are invited to be active participants in your care journey. From regular updates with staff and management to private consultations and unrestricted visiting (where appropriate), we aim to keep communication open and relationships strong.

Your family remains a vital part of your life here — not just welcome visitors, but valued collaborators in your continued wellbeing.

Living with Purpose
Wellbeing isn’t just about comfort — it’s about meaning. Many of our residents enjoy taking part in our Living with Purpose initiative, which offers opportunities to contribute to life at the home or support causes they care about.

Whether it’s helping with light home duties, mentoring others, or getting involved in charitable fundraising, having a role and a reason brings joy and fulfilment — and research shows it supports both mental and physical health.

Food & Dining: Familiar Comforts with a Twist
Mealtimes are about more than nutrition — they’re a highlight of the day. Our kitchen team prepares a variety of traditional and modern meals using fresh, nutritious ingredients delivered twice weekly..

Residents enjoy a choice of dishes and, where appropriate, can pair meals with a glass of red or white wine. We also run themed culinary experiences like Tasty Tuesdays and Fun Fridays, offering bite-sized treats from around the world — from mini Mexican tacos to Indian samosas and Chinese spring rolls.

These events spark curiosity and conversation — and some of the favourites even make their way onto our regular menu. Got something you’ve always wanted to try? Just let us know — we love a new idea.
